Social Programme

Welcome reception Wednesday 21st July:

This evening is open to all delegates registered for the meeting and is included in the delegate fee.  Accompanying persons are also welcome; please see the registration form. 

This will be held in the AECC where the main scientific sessions will be held.  The evening starts at 7.30 with a wine reception and a brief speech from the Provost of Aberdeen.  Guests will then be entertained by Paul Anderson, folk story-teller, whilst a hot dinner and drinks are served.  This is an informal evening and is a chance to meet up with old friends and become acquainted with highland hospitality!

Transport will be available to and from main hotels.

President's reception Thursday 21st July:

The President, David Drake and his wife Linda, will welcome you to Elphinstone Hall on the University of Aberdeen Campus.  The evening will begin at 7.30pm with the Grampian Police pipe band, and delegates will be served a finger buffet and drinks.  There will be another chance to hear the Pipe Band during the evening.

This is, again, an informal evening to enjoy the surroundings of the venerable university buildings.  The evening is included in delegate registration, and accompanying persons can also attend but for an additional charge.

Transport will be available to and from the main hotels.

Friday 23rd July

This is a free evening for you to explore Aberdeen.  Delegates will receive a map and restaurant guide in their delegate bags.  There is also an opportunity to have a round of golf on one of Aberdeen's splendid courses.

Annual Dinner Saturday 24th July

The closing event of the Congress will be held at the 5 star Marcliffe Hotel.  We will be entertained by the children of Evolution Dance School, showing us traditional scottish dancing, followed by a three course meal and a ceilidh where you will have the chance to have a go at traditional scottish dancing for yourself with the ceilidh band Beggar's Feast! 

This is a formal, black-tie event for which there is an additional charge, but all delegates and accompanying people are welcome to attend.  There will be transport arranged to and from all major congress hotels.
