The Report of the Public Inquiry into Children’s Heart Surgery at

the Bristol Royal Infirmary 1984-1995 (the Kennedy Report)

The Senate of Surgery is the forum where the surgical Royal Colleges and the Specialist Associations of Great Britain and Ireland discuss matters of common interest and concern and agree policies on a range of professional issues.

Each surgical Royal College and Specialist Association prepared an independent response to the Kennedy Report.  These were submitted to the Senate and informed a composite response by Senate.  The Senate response as well as the individual reports from the Colleges and Specialist Associations were sent to the Secretary of State for Health, Alan Milburn in October.

Attached for your information are the Senate response and the BAPS response to the Kennedy Report.
