BACKGROUND

The Simpson Smith Memorial Lecture is one of the highlights of the UK Paediatric Surgical Calendar and this will be the 70th lecture in memory of Alexander Simpson Smith who was a surgeon at Great Ormond Street Hospital. Together with the lecture is a paediatric surgical symposium named for two of the Great Ormond Street Hospitals most well known recent surgeons.

The morning symposium will be dedicated to controversies in paediatric surgery whilst the afternoon panel discussions will cover anorectal malformations.

70th SIMPSON SMITH MEMORIAL LECTURE

This year’s memorial lecturer will be Marc A. Levitt MD from Ohio, USA . Dr. Levitt has published over 120 manuscripts and 60 book chapters. He has been an invited visiting professor all over the world. He dedicates much of his free time to mission trips around the world where he trains surgeons in his complex surgical techniques.
