The Hugh Greenwood Travelling Fellowship
Benefactor: Mr. Hugh Greenwood, OBE, LLD, FRCPH(Hon), Honorary Member, BAPS
Purpose of the Fellowship:
To promote the advancement of paediatric surgery in developing countries by
1) Enabling paediatric surgeons in such overseas countries to spend time in paediatric surgical units in the United Kingdom for periods of 2 to 3 months.
2) Assisting British paediatric surgeons to visit overseas centres to teach and train local surgeons.
The award should cover standard class travel, accommodation and subsistence costs for the duration of the visit to a maximum of £3000.
Management of the Fellowship:
The BAPS Executive Committee will be responsible for the financial management of the fund.
The amount available for awards each year will be at the discretion of the BAPS Executive.
The Fellowship will be advertised annually through the BAPS.
The award committee will comprise the International Affairs Committee, one or more Overseas Members of Council [if not already members of the International Committee], and a representative of the Executive (if not already represented).
The number of awards made each year and the value of each award will be at the discretion of the award committee.
Awards will be approved by the Executive.
Application Process
Fellows will be requested to submit a report to International Affairs Committee following successful completion of their travelling fellowship.
