The Professor James Lister Fellowship
At the out set I am thankful to executive committee of British Association of Paediatric Surgeons and the family of Prof. James Lister for awarding me the James Lister fellowship 2010. I also convey my special thanks to Dr Ashish Minocha (member of International Affairs Committee) for his continuous support, guidance and endeavour.
I attended 57th BAPS International congress 2010 at historic University City of Aberdeen from 21st to 24th July. The focus of the conference was the developments with in the Paediatric Surgery and there was plenty of exchange of clinical & research experiences. The trainee’s session was an excellent and exclusive idea and it was well attended event. Similarly ‘meet the experts’ sessions were enlightening and educative. I found this occasion as an excellent opportunity to meet our colleagues and peers to discuss the most important matters facing our practice and research.
I presented the overall view of Paediatric Surgery in south Asia region with various problems faced in the specialty. There was exchange of information on a wide range of topics including the cases of diagnostic dilemma faced by us in our country and various approaches and advancements in management of such cases. Such opportunity widens the vision and acumen, give exposure to a different setup and make us learn the ongoing research aspects. The academic events were nicely balanced by a relaxing and entertaining social program exposing us to some of the cultures of that part of the Scotland. I once again thank the family of Prof. James Lister for honouring me and giving me an opportunity to be a part of annual BAPS Confe
