Advancing paediatric surgery through education and research

Health Education England Future Leader Fellow

This is a 1 year post starting August 2019 open to ST3+ Doctors. Applications open 23rd November and closes 14th December 2019.

The Well Prepared Surgery (WPS) Future Leader Fellowship aims to develop the fellow’s ability to lead a quality improvement project within a well-established multidisciplinary team of clinical and managerial members. The WPS Programme is developing a comprehensive equitable access pre-operative care service, alongside other improvements to the elective surgical pathway by delivering transformative and sustainable change. The fellow’s projects will be introducing enhanced recovery to the surgical pathway. Evidence based Enhanced recovery is entrenched into adult surgical care but is new to paediatric practice. Focusing on organisation of care and clinical management, of these patients using evidence-based care.
Enhanced recovery starts at the pre-operative planning stage and continues through the pathway. The fellow can choose to focus on a particular surgery or patient population.
The Leadership Fellowship includes the opportunity to pursue a Postgraduate Certificate or an appropriate alternative course.
