This course is aimed at consultants and ST8 and above in paediatric surgery, orthopaedics, plastics and neurosurgery or trauma surgeons with an adult practice who may treat
children in an emergency, as well as paediatric anaesthetists and theatre nurses. We encourage entire theatre trauma teams to attend together. The course includes fresh frozen cadavers.
COURSE WILL COVER
- Damage control resuscitation & surgery
- Managing exanguinating haemorrhage
- Traumatic cardiac arrest
- Penetrating trauma
- Clamshell thoracotomy
- Pericardial tamponade and penetrating cardiac injuries
- Management of zone 1 to 3 neck injuries especially with regard to vascular injuries
- Trauma laparotomy and abdominal packing
- Management of liver injury
- Laparostomy
- Damage control approach to vascular injuries
- Fasciotomies
- Paediatric major trauma case scenarios
- Human Factors lectures & decision making under pressure
- Lessons from the Ariana Grande concert bombing
