An opportunity for senior trainees and consultants to learn and practise, on unembalmed adult cadavers, the steps of a defined set of operative procedures which are relevant to both paediatric and general surgical training.

Course content includes

  • Revision of laparoscopic suturing and knot tying
  • Safe port insertion
  • Hiatal dissection
  • Heller’s cardiomyotomy

Format

  • Practical workshops using unembalmed cadavers
  • Simulation Procedure-Based Assessment (sPBAs)
  • High Definition Endoscopic Stack Systems (Storz ‘SPIES’) and Harmonic scalpel systems(Ethicon Endo-Surgery)

Who should attend?
ST7-8, consultants and SAS Grades
