There is now ample evidence worldwide on the evidence based benefits of mentoring for both mentees and mentors. We invite you to take part in the BAPS 2025 mentorship survey and also to register your interest for the mentoring skills training day on Wednesday 21 January 2026 at the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
The BAPS Mentoring Skills Event for Paediatric Surgeons, will take place on Wednesday, 21 January, from 10:00–4:30 pm in London.
This interactive session will explore how effective mentoring can support both personal and professional growth across paediatric surgeons working in the UK. Our lead trainer Anne O Connor helped launch the consultant mentoring programme at the Imperial College Hospital 12 months ago and feedback from their cohort shows that mentors often experience:
- Enhanced leadership and communication skills
- Greater professional satisfaction and confidence
- Improved reflective practice and career development
- A strengthened sense of purpose and connection within their medical community
The event will offer practical tools, structured approaches, and real-world perspectives to help you become a more confident and impactful mentor. Whether you are already mentoring or are interested in starting, this is a valuable opportunity to enhance your skills and support the next generation of clinicians.
We warmly encourage you to join us and contribute to a thriving mentoring culture in paediatric surgery.
The training session is free for BAPS members who have completed the mentorship survey. Places are limited and will be offered on a first come first served basis.
