Tubingen, Germany, 14th March 2014

The Tübingen Symposium on Pediatric Solid Tumors has established itself as well respected event among the international pediatric oncological meetings. With our last successful meeting on neuroblastoma two years ago, we completed the cycle of four different entities and we are now starting over, focusing on liver tumors again. The 5thInternational Tübingen Symposium on Pediatric Solid Tumors will be entitled “New treatment concepts in pediatric liver tumors”.

The leading international trial groups (SIOPEL, COG, GPOH, JPLT) are currently in the process of establishing a consensus for a common treatment protocol. The analysis of global data taken from these groups is serving as one corner stone of this development. The SIOPEL spring meeting in which the main representatives of these groups are gathering, will be held in Tübingen just prior to our symposium. Therefore, the worldwide leading experts from all fields dealing with pediatric liver tumors will be present at the Tübingen Symposium and will be delivering state of the art presentations.

All different components of the treatment of pediatric liver tumors will be discussed thoroughly including biology, oncology, radiology, surgery, pathology, and others. In addition to the scientific program we organized this year two practical components within the meeting: A Master Class on liver surgery (limited space, separate registration required!) and the live transmission to the main auditorium of a laparoscopic anatomical liver resection. These two practical elements will be realized in cooperation with the Institute of Clinical Anatomy, Tübingen (Director PD Dr. B. Hirt).
